DevConf has lasted a decade because it was built by developers, for developers. No vendor keynotes. No sales pitches disguised as talks. The programme is community-selected, the content is practical, and the format is designed so you can tailor the day entirely to where you are in your career.
Whether you're a junior trying to figure out what to learn next or a lead trying to keep a team together through yet another platform migration, there's a track for you.
Here’s what to expect at Devconf (Joburg or Cape Town)...

DevConf Johannesburg (Tomorrow, Tuesday 12 May)
Seven talk slots across five parallel tracks, meaning 35 sessions to choose from across the day – see the full agenda here. The morning kicks off with a special 10-year anniversary welcome (with prizes), followed by a keynote from DevConf veteran Chris Tite. From there, you pick your track for each slot. Topics span enterprise development challenges, tooling, architecture, team dynamics, and the usual mix of deep technical dives and career-focused sessions.
The expo floor is open all day (08h00 to 19h00). Exhibitors include Entelect, Equal Experts, Lula, Old Mutual, Cloud On Demand, and ADG. OfferZen and Thinkst Canary are sponsoring. BBD and Blue Bean Software are running the coffee stands. Investec Developer is the clothing sponsor, so the swag should be good.
Where: The Canvas @ Riversands, 8 Incubation Drive, Riverside View Ext 15, Fourways, Midrand
When: Registration opens at 07h30. Talks run from 08h45 to 16h55. Networking with drinks and snacks from 17h30 to 19h00.
Food and drinks: Lunch is included. Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks are built into the schedule. The day ends with a networking session from 17h30 with snacks and drinks included.
What you'll come away with: A full day of practical, community-curated talks. The networking between sessions and at the post-event drinks is where a lot of the real value happens. DevConf consistently draws a cross-section of SA's dev community, from startup engineers to enterprise architects, and the hallway conversations tend to be as useful as the talks.
Tickets: Joburg is sold out. Join the waitlist to see if a spot becomes available.

DevConf Cape Town (Thursday 14 May)
