SA accounting tools startup Fintura announced this week that it is officially a Sage Tech Partner, alongside the rollout of a native API integration with Sage Business Cloud Accounting (Sage One SA).
The integration links Fintura's CIPC compliance and practice management tools directly to Sage's accounting ledger, letting SA accounting firms push invoices from completed compliance work, sync client records, and eliminate the double-entry that has historically sat between the two systems.
Setup takes under 10 minutes via native API.
Interesting insights on Fintura as a Sage partner
The integration runs five automated workflows: Auto-Match contact sync between Fintura and Sage, bidirectional quote management with full lifecycle tracking, invoice push from time entries or accepted quotes, live invoice status sync back into Fintura, and three billing automation rules that turn completed compliance work into automatic invoices.
The most interesting feature is the lapsed company alert: Sage suspends API access the moment a client's CIPC registration lapses, and Fintura surfaces that with a one-click renewal link rather than a generic sync error. That is the kind of practitioner-built detail you only get when your CEO was an accountant first.
The integration is included at no extra cost on Fintura's Pro Practice Management plan, runs against Sage Business Cloud Accounting (Sage One SA, not Pastel Partner), and is already live with the 100+ SA firms on the platform.
Integrate, not replace, and the receipts are coming in
When we covered Fintura's pre-seed in March, the pitch was clear: "Fintura doesn't try to replace Xero, Sage or SimplePay. It integrates with them." That sounded like reasonable positioning at the time.
Three months later, the Sage Tech Partner status confirms that the strategy is executing rather than just selling.
For SA accounting firms, the practical effect is straightforward: every CIPC return filed, every Beneficial Ownership declaration lodged, and every SARS task completed in Fintura now automatically generates a Sage invoice. No firm forgets to bill the compliance work, and no compliance work hides in spreadsheets.
For Fintura, the harder bet is still ahead. Xero next, presumably. SimplePay after that. The thesis stands or falls on shipping the rest.
